MathCup Academy announced today that two of its students, Alethea Liu and Daniel Jin, ranked 6th nationally out of 841 contestants in the annual Mathworks Math Contest, each scoring 12 points.

The Mathworks Math Contest is a two-hour, 15-question “show your work” contest rated at a 6th–8th grade level, widely regarded as a difficult test of both problem-solving and written mathematical reasoning.

“Placing this high out of over 800 contestants, in a contest that grades on full written solutions rather than just a final answer, says a lot about these students' depth of understanding,” said Dr. Jin, co-founder of MathCup Academy. “Congratulations to both of them.”
