MathCup Academy announced today that it is piloting an AI-based tutor designed to help students work through math problems on their own, rather than simply providing solutions. The tool is built to ask guiding questions at each step, mirroring the discovery-based teaching philosophy that underlies MathCup's curriculum.

“A tool that just hands over the answer doesn’t build the reasoning skills we care about,” said Dr. Jin, co-founder of MathCup Academy. “We wanted something that behaves more like a good instructor sitting next to you — nudging you toward the next step instead of doing the step for you.”

The pilot is open to students on the platform now, and MathCup Academy is inviting feedback as the tool continues to develop.
