MathCup Academy announced today the launch of a new learning-by-problem-solving enrichment program for 7th and 8th graders, aimed at students not challenged enough by their in-school math classes. The program consists of 16 weekly problem sets, along with weekly teacher sessions to answer questions.
The weekly topics are based on the curricula of several prestigious New York City gifted-and-talented schools, and go beyond the requirements of the Common Core. Problem difficulty ranges from foundational to challenging, and each problem includes a detailed solution along with similar problems for further practice.
“We built this program for the students who finish their homework in ten minutes and are still bored,” said Dr. Mao, MathCup Academy curriculum director. “The goal is to give them material that actually asks something of them.”
The fall program runs from the week of 09/25/2022 through the week of 01/15/2023.
Sample problem set: 7th grade sample set.
Registration: 7th Grade Math Enrichment · 8th Grade Math Enrichment.
